Using your Member Card debit card

Your debit card is an important part of your day-to-day activites; you may use it nearly anywhere you can. The most common ways to use your card include:

  • Shopping: groceries, gas, entertainment - you name it
  • ATM Withdrawals: The only way you can withdraw cash from an ATM is with your debit card
  • Online Banking: to use online banking, you will need the 19-digit card number of your debit card

Foreign Currency ATM and POS Member Card Debit or Mobile Transactions:
Foreign currency Member Card transactions are processed by our foreign network partners (Mastercard International, NYCE), who determine the currency conversion rate. A 2.5% administration fee is added to the transaction amount presented for authorization on your account.
Additional fees many be charged by ATM owners as part of the transaction amount.


Interac Flash® Member Card Debit Cards Expand/Collapse

Our debit cards also feature Interac Flash. Now you can simply "tap and go", making your purchases quicker with shorter wait times.

Using Interac Flash

Using your new card is simple. Just look for this symbol:

This will tell you that you can use Interac Flash here. Just hold your card against the debit terminal for a couple seconds or until you hear a beep, and that's it.

Security

There are a number of security features included, in addition to those already present with the chip-enabled debit cards:

  • Interac Flash still uses chip technology to safely store your card's information
  • The Interac Zero Liability policy protects you from unauthorized transactions
  • Spending limits for contactless transactions add another layer of protection

Protecting Your Pin Expand/Collapse

Remember, never share your PIN with anyone. To help protect your PIN, you should:

  • Keep your debit card in a safe place and don't lend it to anyone.
  • Memorize your PIN. Don't write it down, post it on your computer, carry it with you or attach it to your cards.
  • Don't disclose your PIN to anyone.
  • When selecting your PIN, don't pick the obvious. i.e. names, birthdays, address, etc.
  • Don't let your debit card out of your sight when conducting a transaction and don't let it be swiped twice.
  • Don't use ATM or POS (Point of Sale) machines where you don't feel safe.
  • Notify us immediately if you detect any irregular activity on your accounts or if your debit or credit card is lost, stolen or retained in an ATM machine.
  • Consider changing your PIN regularly.

Buyer Protection & Extended Warranty Expand/Collapse

This feature is exclusive to any member of Stride Credit Union with a Member Card® debit card. No applications required and no extra cost- you are automatically a part of this fantastic program! Didn't keep your receipt either? In most cases, your statement with the purchase can be used instead.

• Buyer Protection is available on most retail items purchased using your Member Card debit card. For a full 120 days after purchase, the item is protected if it's stolen, dropped and broken, or even destroyed in a fire. Valid claims will be settled by either replacing the stolen or damaged item, or by a cash payment in an amount not to exceed the amount of the total purchase price.

• Extended Warranty will double the warranty period of your purchased item, up to two years, as long as the manufacturer's warranty is valid in Canada for five years or less.

For example, you purchase a new TV. The manufacturer typically offers a one-year warranty. But, if you purchased the TV with your Member Card debit card, it would be protected under the terms of the original warranty for an additional one-year period.

Lost or Stolen Card Expand/Collapse

If your Member Card debit card is lost or stolen:

  • contact any branch immediately, or
  • call 1-888-277-1043
We can make sure that your old card is cancelled and issue you a new one. Unless your card is defective, a replacement fee may apply.
